Ukraine received the opportunity to export seeds to the EU member countries. This became possible thanks to the European Parliament's decision, as it recognized that Ukrainian certification system meets the EU requirements. Taras Kachka, the trade representative of Ukraine in the EU posted that on Facebook.
"(...) it's about the seeds, which turn into millions of tons of harvests. The European Parliament voted for the respective decisions. This was the key voting in the procedure", he wrote.
Kachka explained that the decision would allow the agriculture industry increase the volumes of vegetable products with added value. He added that this would let Ukrainian farmers develop crop farming in this country.
In January-August 2020, the index of agricultural production in Ukraine felly by almost 10 percent, compared with the same period of 2019.
