Passenger traffic from Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany) has increased by 60% since the introduction of visa-free travel to the EU for Ukrainians on June 11, compared to previous year’s data, as Serhiy Tupalsky, Acting Head of Kyiv city customs, informed on Kyiv City Administration website.
“This exceeds all our expectations. Furthermore, the overall amount of international flights has increased as well. This month nine new destinations to the EU countries appeared,” he said.
According to Tupalsky, from June 11 to July 10 39,923 citizens flew from Zhuliany, and 39,482 arrived at the airport, while a year ago the numbers were 24,948 and 24,503 respectively.
Tupalsky remarked that 75% of travelers are Ukrainian citizens. He also reminded that this month nine new destinations were added from the airport.
As it was reported earlier, over 95,000 Ukrainians travelled to the EU since the beginning of visa-free travel regime.
