"Ukraine is under US President Donald Trump’s pressure who is building a policy on Ukraine based on his personal interests and, if necessary, is ready to give it to Russia," US Senator from the State of Connecticut Chris Murphy said this in an interview with Jake Tepper (CNN).

Murphy believes that since the start of his presidential term, Donald Trump has launched a campaign to break ties between the USA and Ukraine. In this regard, he notes the reduction in the number of high-level meetings and contacts between US and Ukrainian governments.

According to the senator, the election of a "pro-European and pro-American reformer" Zelensky as the president of Ukraine was a "nightmare" for Russia.

"US policy on Ukraine serves the purely personal interests of Donald Trump. The derogation of aid to Ukraine, which has clearly had a devastating effect, is an evidence to it," Murphy said.

"It is becoming increasingly clear that President Trump views US-Ukrainian relations as a convenient tool for promoting his political interests," the senator emphasized.
