President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani said Saturday that he's not aware he's under investigation for his involvement in the unraveling Ukraine scandal, calling it a "political attack", CNN reports.
When asked if he was, Giuliani told CNN: "No, nothing but leaks, which has to tell you whether they are or are not investigating, it's a political attack. Otherwise, why leak it?"
"If it's an appropriate law enforcement investigation, you try to keep it secret so the subjects aren't alerted," he added.
Earlier, federal prosecutors in Manhattan started investigating whether President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudolph Giuliani broke lobbying laws in his dealings in Ukraine, according to two people familiar with the inquiry. This was reported by The New York Times.
Prosecutors are investigating whether the president’s lawyer broke laws meant to prevent covert foreign influence on the government.
Meanwhile, in a blow to President Donald Trump’s efforts to block oversight of his business dealings, a U.S. court on Friday backed a House of Representative's request for the Republican’s financial records including tax documents, Reuters informs.
The 2-1 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit moves House Democrats closer to accessing records that would shed light on Trump’s business interests and how he built his fortune.
