A roadmap of priority draft laws in the framework of Ukraine’s integrating into the EU includes 57 draft laws, 20 of which have already been prepared, as Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Andriy Parubiy said today.
“The roadmap has been developed and it includes 57 draft laws in the framework of fulfilling our commitments on the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. These are 57 draft laws which are concrete steps towards the European integration of Ukraine. 20 of them are ready and await the approval of the Verkhovna Rada,” Parubiy said.
In his turn, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli emphasized that this roadmap should be introduced fast.
He also gave a few proposals on the matter:
- That the government and the Parliament leadership, including the heads of the committees, should choose and announce the priority draft laws before each session of the Parliament.
- That the role of the committee on Euro-integration should be increased as the stronger role of this committee will facilitate the understanding in the Parliament on what the priorities are.
- The regular meetings should be held between the government, the committee of the Parliament on Euro-integration and the delegation of the EU in Ukraine.
