President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed the ratification of the Agreement on the EU-Ukraine Association by the Netherlands and the visa-free regime over the phone with the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker. It is reported by the President’s Administration press service.
According to the report, the interlocutors discussed the situation around the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union by the Netherlands. Jean-Claude Juncker said that the agreement, including a free trade zone, continues to operate.
European Commission President also once again confirmed the implementation by Ukraine of all the criteria for granting a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.
Also they discussed the agenda of the next EU-Ukraine summit, which will take place in November.
It should be noted that the Dutch parliament ordered the government to decide the question of the association of Ukraine and the EU until November. At the same time Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte said that the government is likely to not ratify the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, taking into account the results of the April referendum.
Recall that the Netherlands held a consultative referendum regarding the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine on April 6, 2016. 61% voted against the EU-Ukraine association.
