President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel during their meeting supported the implementation of the ‘Easter armistice’ in Donbas from April 18, broadcasted by the 112.Ukraine.

“Despite the election campaign, the challenges from outside never end. The Russian aggressor would be very pleased to exclude Ukraine from the other countries. I as the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will do my best in order to prevent this to happen,” Poroshenko said.

“Yes, we all are fighting for bringing peace to Ukrainian territories. Yes, we have to count casualties today. That is why I am very grateful to the Chancellor that during our discussion we supported the Easter ceasefire regime, which will come into force on April 18, provided Russia abides by these conditions,” the President said.

As it was reported, on April 11, pro-Kremlin armed gangs opened fire 20 times. One Ukrainian defender lost his life in combat; another eight were wounded.
