Polish Senate refused to remove Ukrainian nationalism from bill

The draft law will be submitted to general discussion in Sejm

Polish Senators from the Law and Justice party refused to support the initiative by Marek Karczewski to remove prohibition of totalitarian symbols propaganda, Ukrainian nationalism in particular. This was reported by Ukrinform.

The according decision was taken on Tuesday at the meeting of three commission of upper chamber of the parliament.

Another Senator from the Law and Justice party, who proposed to recognize Lithuanian and Ukrainian nationalism, Russian and German militarism as totalitarian symbols, claimed Polish parliament should not be affected by the pressure from Ukraine, Germany and Lithuania.

His position was supported by a number of Senators. As Senators voted against the cancellation of the draft law, it will be submitted to general discussion in Sejm.
