Today, June 3, early parliamentary election is being held in Malta. This was reported by Malta Today.

Joseph Muscat, leader of the Labour Party and current Prime Minister of Malta, hopes to retain power. Opposition leader Simon Busuttil is his main opponent.

209 candidates will be fighting for the seats in 65 districts, voting results should be announced Sunday morning.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced early parliamentary election in Malta on May 1. He accuses opposition of lying and undermining political and economic stability of Malta. At the same time, Muscat is facing criminal investigation, which also affects his wife and Minister of Energy. All of them are allegedly connected with the "offshore scandal".
