The observers of OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM) in Donbas should be equipped with the best technical means to fix ceasefire violations at nighttime. This was reported by Sebastian Kurz, the Austria's Minister for Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, according to the results of the conversation with his German colleague Sigmar Gabriel, TASS reports.

"We are currently trying to strengthen OSCE monitoring mission. Firstly, we have to increase the observers’ number. Secondly, we need to improve their technical equipment. This would be very helpful if they were provided with the means to monitor at night and record which party violates the ceasefire agreement," Kurz said.

According to him, OSCE plans to disengage parties to the conflict in Donbas with the observers’ help as long as possible.

At the same time, he noted that the reached Minsk agreement does not have an alternative: "Minsk is the basis we have today and the will of all sides is necessary to implement it," Austrian Foreign Minister added.
