Morten Helveg Petersen, Member of the European Parliament and the Vice Chair at the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, expressed the solidarity of the European Union with Ukraine in its tough conditions, during his visit to Ukraine on Thursday.
He said that among the objectives – having a true European energy union to decrease the dependency on imports of fossil fuels, oil, coal. It’s a general ambition to live up to the climate objectives that we have within the Paris agreement, that we have to make this transition to a low-carbon economy if not a total fossil fuel free economy.
Petersen also said that it’s extremely important for the European Union to show the solidarity with Ukraine in tough conditions and to have a true cooperation we have to fasten that cooperation even further in order to have a good working relationship between the two countries.
He also sees difficulties in free trade agreements implementation on practice.
