Martin Schaefer, the representative of the Foreign Ministry of Germany, condemned the act of Oleksiy Honcharenko, the people’s deputy from Petro Poroshenko Bloc, who painted the fragment of the Berlin Wall located at the German Embassy in Kyiv. This was reported by “Strana.ua”.
“We really regret that Ukrainian deputy painted the fragment of Berlin Wall located at the territory of the German Embassy. We are confident that even if this was a reaction to the remark of the German Ambassador, this act is highly inappropriate,” Schaefer said.
He noted that Ukraine and Germany mark 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations this year, and the support of Ukrainian reforms by Germany is unprecedented.
“Germany was the first country to start diplomatic relations with Ukraine 25 years ago, Ukraine and Germany have always had close cooperation, our support of Poroshenko’s reforms, economy reforms and society in absolutely unprecedented,” the representative of the Foreign Ministry stressed.
As it was reported earlier, Honcharenko painted the fragment of the Berlin Wall, which is located at the German Embassy in Kyiv in protest against the German Ambassador Ernst Reichel’s remarks about the elections in the Donbas region.
