After the elections to the European Parliament, the parliament of France will discuss lifting of sanctions against Russia at the European level. Thierry Mariani, the member of the French National Assembly for Eleventh Overseas Constituency and the co-chairman of the association Franco-Russian Dialogue, stated this in the interview to the publication Izvestia.
“If Ukraine and Russia manage to make an agreement on all the disputed issues, including Donbas, the sanctions against Russia will be lifted,” Mariani stated.
The politician stated that the Minsk agreements, one of the conditions of the agreement were signed by the ex-president of France François Hollande, were the really good ones, as they touched upon the local government, status of the political prisoners and POW’s exchange.
According to Mariani, if the Administration of President Petro Poroshenko had abided by those agreements, the situation would not have gone that far.
He recollected his trip to Donetsk four months ago when he saw the conditions of people suffered from the hostilities.
It is hard to believe that those events are happening in the Center of Europe today, according to Mariani.
Thierry Mariani expressed hope that the new president Volodymyr Zelensky will carry out another policy.
