Due to the accident on the trunk gas pipeline near the village of Chabany (Kyiv region), the gas supply was cut off, but the transit of natural gas to Europe is provided in the normal mode and in the declared volumes. The press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this.
“Despite the emergency situation, the transit of gas to European countries through Ukraine's gas transportation system is provided in the amounts declared for transit,” the statement said.
At the moment, repair work is underway. The causes of the accident have not been reported yet.
Ukraine’s National Police said that a criminal case under Art. 292 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Damage to objects of the trunk or industrial oil, gas, condensate pipelines, and oil product pipelines) has been opened.
“The reasons for the accident are not voiced yet. It is known preliminarily that no works were carried out at the site. Expert examinations have been appointed,” Kyiv Region Police spokeswoman Vitaliya Hrokholska told RBC-Ukraine.
As it was reported earlier, a powerful explosion was observed in the village of Chabany, not far from Kyiv, - as it turned out, a pipe burst occurred at a gas pipeline pumping gas to Europe.
