The ceremony of signing took place in Strasbourg at the room of protocol of the European Parliament. The document was signed by President of European Parliament Antonio Tajani and Estonian Deputy Minister of European Affairs on behalf of the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EUMatti Maasikas.
Also, the reporter of the European Parliament on this issue Yaroslav Valensa was present at the ceremony.
The decree should be published at the Official EU Journal and then it will enter into force. It is expected at the end of September.
Earlier, the European Parliament supported the offer of the European Commission to increase the tariff quotas for a range of the Ukrainian goods on June 1. The trade preferences are provided to Ukraine within DCFTA, the part of the Association of Agreement that is temporarily used since January 2016. This part of the agreement provides the mutual opening of the markets and services but EU decrease and cancel the customs faster. The EU offered to Kyiv the additional trade cessions taking into account the economic difficulties of Ukraine and its efforts in the reforms.
