The European Commissioner for Neighborhood Police and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn on June 1 launched the EU's anti-corruption initiative in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.
"Today, I want to officially announce the launch open the EU's anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine. The new program is currently the largest European initiative of its kind," said Hahn.
The Ukrainian government's press service said the initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of the existing anti-corruption institutes and strengthen independent control of the on-going reform process in the Verkhovna Rada, civil society and media.
Headed by Eka Tkeshelashvili, the three-year program will see the European Commission contribute 15 million euros to the project and the Dutch Foreign Ministry 1.34 million euros.
