EU-Ukraine Association Agreement officially enter into force

The work on the Association Agreement took ten years

The official journal of the European Union published the information about the entry into force of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement since September 1, 2017, on July 25.

‘The Association Agreement between the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community at the one side and Ukraine at the other side signed in Brussels on March 21, 2014, and June 27, 2014, will come into force on September 1, 2017, according to the article on agreement, the message says.

The EU Council approved the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement on July 11 and the European Union finished the ratification of the Agreement.

The work on the Association Agreement took ten years. The work on the text of the Agreement was finished in 2013 and it was signed in 2014 after the Revolution of Dignity. It was ratified by the Verkhovna Rada, the European Parliament and the national parliaments of all EU country during 2014-2017.

The President of the European Council Donald Tusk and the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker presented the ratified documents of the Association Agreement to the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at the Ukraine-EU summit that took place in Kyiv.
