The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Konstantyn Yeliseev explained why the issue of granting Ukraine a visa-free regime is not on the agenda of the next plenary session of the European Parliament. 112 Ukraine TV Channel broadcasted the comment.
As deputy head of the President’s Administration explained, the key reason for the introduction of visa-free regime with the EU is a full implementation of the relevant criteria, which has been repeatedly confirmed at various levels, including during the last visit of President Poroshenko in Brussels on October 20.
"No less important is the fact that there are also some internal procedural aspects within the EU, which determine the application of one or another issue on the agenda of the European session and the EU Council. The absence of the issue in the agenda of the European Parliament does not mean that it will not be dealt with in a certain time frame. It should be understood that the agenda to which you refer is a live document. It gets its final form in a few days before the plenary session, when the issues on which political agreement have been achieved at the last minute have been added to the agenda", Yeliseev said.
"So there are no reasons to doubt that we will receive the visa-free regime. It was confirmed during intense telephone conversation of President Petro Poroshenko with the leadership of the EU institutions in the last few days", summed up the representative of the PA.
According to the draft agenda of the plenary session of the European Parliament, which will be held on November 21-24, the vote for the abolition of visa regime with Ukraine is not included.
