The EU leaders will present a package of extra measures of support for Azov, which is part of Ukraine's Donetsk region. A high-rank European diplomat reported that as quoted by Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
"Leaders will announce first certain support measures as results of this visit, while the opening of the office of projects in Mariupol is to increase the EU presence in the region", he claimed.
The diplomat added that humanitarian and economic assistance is already present in the area. "We will increase the targeted assistance in the region, specifically, in the area of the Sea of Azov, so as to solve the infrastructure issues on the roads, the railroads... the future of Berdyansk sea port. We'll also try supporting economic diversification", the diplomat said.
The official also claimed that the mine-clearing mission would come to Azov region.
