The European Union criticized the actions of the Belarusian authorities and demanded the immediate release of the detainees of Freedom March.

In a press release on behalf of the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogerini, it is said that the EU is watching with anxiety the numerous detentions of civilians and journalists in connection with the unauthorized Freedom Day.

"Such repressions against freedom of speech and assembly contradict the declared by  Belarus policy of democratization and its international obligations," the message says.

"Steps of Belarus in respect of fundamental freedoms, legality and human rights will be key factors in the formation of relations with the European Union," the report said.

But protest action in Minsk continues. People gathered against yesterday’s detentions. Police has already detained 20 people. This was reported by Minsk correspondent Inna Kardash on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"Another protest action started in Minsk about 30 minutes ago. Just in 5 minutes after the rally started people and OMON officers started coming, luckily they were not armed. As yesterday, they had no shields. However, they warned people that the action was not authorized. At first glance, there are about 20 detained people," correspondent informed.
