EU Council approves visa-free regime for Georgian citizens

Decree should be signed by the EU Council and the European Parliament, then the text will be published in the EU Official Journal and will enter into force in 20 days

The European Union finally approved the decision on the abolition of visa requirements for the citizens of Georgia. The decision was taken at today's meeting of the EU Council. This was reported on the European Council website.

Now the citizens of Georgia will be able to travel to EU countries without visas for tourist purposes for 90 days during the 180-day period.

"This agreement will bring together the peoples of Georgia and the EU and will enhance tourism and business ties. This implies the completion of the necessary reforms on the part of Georgia, including reform of the documents' security, border management, migration and asylum," the report said.

The decree should be signed by the EU Council and the European Parliament, then the text will be published in the EU Official Journal and will enter into force in 20 days.
