EU Commission to allocate 32,5 million euro for Ukraine

The European Commission will allocate 32,5 million euro for Ukraine under the program of sector budget support of regional development and state governance. The EU Commission made the decision after the revision of EU projects, Economic Development and Trade Ministry reports.

 “We are grateful for the EU’s assistance to Ukraine. But now we need to solve several problems urgently. Above all, we have to introduce online registration and monitoring of international assistance projects, to provide regular informing of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade by the EU Commission about the monitoring of the current projects' implementation and new competitions for EU project selection, announced by the EU Commission in Brussel,” Maksym Nefyodov, First Deputy Minister of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry said.

It is reported that critical problems in the program of support the implementation of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine occurred, but the EU Commission decided to prolong the program as this sector requires reformation.

“As a result of the dialogue on further EU support the parties continue working on assistance directions from the project portfolio for 2018-2020,” the message says.

The assistance programs for Ukraine provides support for 17 fields; 235 agreements on 943 million euro in total were signed. Ukraine received 148 million euro in 2017.
