The EU will continue with the policy of support of Ukraine, expecting president-elect Volodymyr Zelensky to join the EU-Ukraine summit in summer. Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council posted that on Twitter.
'First, a good phone call with Ukraine's President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky. I assured him of the EU's steadfast support to Ukraine. Looking forward to our cooperation and EU-Ukraine Summit in July', the tweet says.
Tusk also had a conversation with the incumbent president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
The EU-Ukraine summit will take place on July 8.
According to the results from the Central Election Committee of Ukraine (100% votes counted), Volodymyr Zelensky leads the way with 73.23 percent of votes. Petro Poroshenko collected 24.5 percent of votes. In general, over 18 million citizens participated in two rounds of presidential elections. The electoral activity rate made more than 62 percent.
