Having ratified the Association Agreement, the European Council has once again confirmed its commitment to the European choice of Ukraine. This was mentioned in the official commentary released by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
‘This decision is of special significance, since the agreement was ratified on the eve of the 19th EU-Ukraine summit, slated for July 12 and 13 in Kyiv. Thus, both parties laid the unique basis for successful conduction of the summit; this basis consists of EU-Ukraine visa-free regime and the complete process of ratification of this document,’ the Ukrainian authority said.
The last ten years (the negotiations about the bilateral Association Agreement began in 2007, - 112 International) have greatly changed Ukraine. The reforms are now irreversible and systemic; the EU integration became the synonym of moving forward to democracy, freedom and higher living standards,’ the message says.
The ministry defined the EU-Ukraine Association agreement and the visa-free regime as’ first but solid steps on the way to full-fledged and confident existence of Ukraine in Europe’.
‘September 1, when the agreement is to take effect, will become a memorable date in the modern history of our state, the day of our gratitude and respect for the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and millions of Ukrainians who continue to protect freedom, independence and European values on the eastern borders of Europe,’ the Ukrainian authority concluded.
