On July 7, Estonia’s Ministry of Defense sent a shipment of 2.4 thousand Makarov pistols to Ukraine in order to support the strengthening of the country's independent defense capabilities. This was reported by the press service of the Estonian Defense Ministry.
"Russia’s continuing aggression in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine is unacceptable and has a broader impact on the security of Europe as a whole. With this shipment we are supporting our ally who has been at war for six years," said Estonian Minister of Defense Jüri Luik.
The pistols were sent at the request of Ukraine. They will be handed over to the Ukrainian army. Transport costs of nearly EUR 7000 will be covered by Estonia.
As we reported earlier, the U.S. has increased military assistance for Ukraine by 25 million dollars.
"275 million dollars for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, 25 million dollars above the request. Exempts funds from apportionment and requires the Secretary of Defense to inform Congress of any undue spending delays," the report reads.
