Israel Ambassador to Ukraine Joel Lion commented on the temporary closure of the diplomatic mission and said that he hoped for a quick solution to the crisis with the country's Ministry of Finance. Lion wrote about it on his Facebook page.

"We have been forced to close all embassies around the world since we were denied a basic financial base that served for proper execution of our job. Israeli diplomacy is an important aspect of our national security, we are dedicated public servants and we hope that this crisis will be resolved immediately," Lion said.

As we reported earlier, Israeli Embassy in Ukraine has announced the closure of a diplomatic mission following the decision of the Israeli Ministry of Finance. This is stated on the embassy's Facebook page.

"Because of the Israeli Ministry’s of Finance decision to violate arrangements that were agreed and signed by the Director-General of Ministry of Finance on July 21, 2019, and to apply a one-sided procedure that changes the protocol, which has been in place for several decades, we have to close a diplomatic mission. No consular services will be provided and no one will be allowed to enter the Embassy/Consulship," the statement said.

The diplomatic agency added that they were forced to take such measures because "the vital interests of the State of Israel were harmed”.
