US National Security Council’s official Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman who was present during a conversation with President of the United States Donald Trump with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will give testimony to Congress for the first time. It was reported by CNN.
According to Vindman, Trump undermined US national security when he asked the president of Ukraine to investigate his political opponent.
This is what he is going to tell the impeachment committee about.
"I did not think it would be appropriate to demand a foreign government to investigate the actions of a US citizen, and I was concerned about the consequences of the U.S. government's support for Ukraine," the official said.
It is noted that the chairman of the House Committee of Congress, James McGovern, said he would pass a resolution that would ensure the transparency of the investigation into Trump's impeachment.
Such a decision was forced by Trump's ignorance of lawmakers' demands. The position of the president's lawyers was that President Donald Trump did not violate the law since an impeachment investigation was not formally sanctioned by the House of Representatives.
