Adam Schiff, the Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, believes Donald Trump's appeal to Ukraine and China to launch an investigation into Biden is a threat to US national security, Ukrinform reports.

"This is a fundamental violation of the presidential oath. This jeopardizes our elections. This threatens our national security," Schiff said.

He is convinced that all members of the US Congress should condemn the president's calls for interference in the country's electoral process. The Democrat noted that Trump is doing this in order to find support for his 2020 election campaign.

On October 3, Donald Trump stated that he wants Ukraine and China to investigate the case of Joe Biden and his son.

Trump added that he believes that China should initiate an investigation into Biden’s case, citing unproven allegations that he and his lawyer have made regarding Hunter Biden’s business relationship in China.

"And, by the way, in a similar way, China should begin an investigation of Biden. Because what happened in China is as bad as things happened in Ukraine," he said.
