The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has adopted the Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2021, according to the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe.
The plan is a strategic document of cooperation between the Council of Europe and Ukraine for 4 years. The budget of the Plan amounts to 29,5 million euro. Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, Liechtenstein, and the EU.
It is noted that the Plan is intended at supporting reforms of the justice system, decentralization and fight against corruption. It also focuses on protection of rights of IDPs and safety of journalists.
It is also emphasized that, according to Ukraine’s initiative, it is stated that the plan is to facilitate the aims of Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine.
Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin noted that the document is a “real synergy of Eurointegration”.
This Plan of Action of the Council of Europe for Ukraine is the fifth such document. The first one was signed back in 2005, thus beginning the tradition of cooperation between Ukraine and the Council of Europe.
