On June 6 police detained Georgian and Ukrainian in Warsaw, Poland, who stole a backpack from an entrepreneur with 700 thousand zlotys (more than 187 thousand dollars) and tried to get away. This was reported by Gazeta.pl.
Three attackers were waiting for 59-year-old businessman near one of the shopping malls, accomplice was waiting in black "Audi" with the engine turned on nearby. The criminals were dressed in yellow reflecting jackets, pretending to be repairers. They pepper-sprayed a man and started to run, however they got noticed by the police patrol.
Law enforcement officers began chasing the suspects immediately. Report of the crime was received by other policemen. Criminals tried to escape the pursuit violating all road safety regulations.
Police blocked the roads cutting escape routes for the offenders. Criminals tried to get around the closings, went over the side of the road and crashed into a couple of vehicles parked there. Perpetrators left the damaged Audi afterwards and started running again.
Police caught up with them eventually. 42-year-old Georgian and 40-year-old Ukrainian were detained.
Law enforcement officers seized the stolen backpack with money, both men were taken to police department.
Police are establishing the indecent circumstances currently and identifies two perpetrators. Detained persons may face up to 12 years of imprisonment.
