The European Union and Ukraine can sign the agreement about collaborative airspace. Such a prediction was made by EU’s Ambassador in Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli in the interview to Yevropeiska Pravda outlet.
Answering when the agreement about the joint airspace can be signed between the European Union and Ukraine, he noted: “My colleagues in Brussels say that just after the Brexit will happen, the obstacles for signing this agreement will be removed. As you know, the signing was blocked due to the dispute between Spain and Great Britain about Gibraltar’s status. That is why when Great Britain will leave the European Union, the dispute will not be present inside of the EU anymore.”
Consequently, Hugues Mingarelli expressed the hope for signing of the document until the end of this year.
The European Collaborative Airspace (ECA) is a bilateral agreement between the EU and third countries, which sets the common security standards and liberalizes marker relations in aviation sphere, allowing to use the airspace more effective and safer.
The negotiations related to ECA with Ukraine finished in 2013, but the signing is banned due to the conflict between Great Britain and Spain about Gibraltar airport’s status.
