President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Paralympian Maksym Kripak with the title Hero of Ukraine. Zelensky announced this during a meeting with the Paralympians.

“Maxim Kripak‘s star shone at the Tokyo Games, and our Ukrainian swimmer won seven awards. This is a great result. He improved the record he held for 11 years. We are chained to the screens when you swim, because you are our hero. And from today - Hero of Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

The President noted that Ukrainian swimmer Maksym Kripak was recognized as the best athlete of the XVI Paralympic Games. Kripak is also a ten-time Paralympic champion.

In turn, Kripak appealed to the President of Ukraine to “make the same center in Ukraine as in Yevpatoria, so that both Olympians and Paralympians can fully prepare and achieve their maximum goals.”

As it was reported earlier, the Ukrainian national team won 98 medals at the Paralympic Games in the capital of Japan - 24 gold, 47 silver, 27 bronze. It should be noted that this year the most titled Paralympian was a Ukrainian - swimmer Maksym Kripak won 7 awards in Japan. He won five gold (200m individual medley, 100m and 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly and backstroke), silver (50m freestyle) and bronze (relay).
