A quarterfinal fixture took place in the WTA Miami Open tournament. Ukraine's Elina Svitolina played against Anastasia Sevastova from Latvia.
The Ukrainian defeated her opponent in two sets (6:3, 6:2) and proceeded to the next stage.
In the semifinals, Svitolina will stand against American Ashleigh Barty.
Last month, the Ukrainian was defeated by Jessica Pegula from the U.S. who kicked her out of the Australian Open. "I just had a bad day. Nothing was going my way. It is hard to say exactly why it happened. It is a combination of factors. The opponent played well today, it was hard for me to catch the rhythm because of that. I did not feel that well on the court. It is sad because I played great prior to that. But today it was a day when nothing works out," said Svitolina.
