U.S. boxing coach James Ali Bashir, who worked with Ukraine's prominent heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk believes that the Ukrainian has decent chances to defeat Murat Gassiev in the final bout of the World Boxing Super Series.
Ali Bashir shared his expectations from Usyk in this fight as quoted by Tribuna.com.
'It absolutely does not matter where the fight is, be it in Moscow or on the Moon. After the bell, there will be no one else but Usyk, Gassiev and the referee. I guess Oleksandr will be the favorite in this fight. Based on his skills, one could say he's a very tough fighter. He will have no problem winning... From where I'm standing, the entire world will be watching the fight. Everyone will be watching the ring - regardless of what Russia says', he said.
Gassiev also shared his view on the upcoming fight. 'My training camp before the fight with Usyk was just the same as always. My opponent is a southpaw, so I had a lot of sparring partners; in this case, you've got to be acting a little different, tactically. But, apart from that, nothing changed. I do the same stuff - running, physical exercises and sparrings. I never think of whatever Usyk is doing; I should be Murat Gassiev and show my best. I only think of myself, my own skills and conditions. That's it', he said.
As is known, the World Boxing Super Series final will be held in Moscow on July 21.
Usyk previously claimed the fight against Gassiev will be a 'beautiful one'. 'It doesn't matter much to me - where I fight. It might seem unfair, but it's going to be the way the God intends. I don't care where to go; wherever I go, it's 'do or die' for me,' the Ukrainian champion said.
