Former WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (17-1, 14 KOs) thanked everyone for their support in the fight against IBF, WBC titleholder Artur Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KOs) on his Instagram page, Xsport reports.
Gvozdyk also promised to return to the ring even stronger.
"Hello, friends! Thank you all for your support! Unfortunately, not everything goes according to the planned scenario, but the main thing is to draw the necessary conclusions and move on! Congratulations to Artur Beterbiev on the victory, great job! You are a real champion. I would like to thank my whole team for the excellent work, we will be back stronger than we were,” Oleksandr stated.
As we reported earlier, a unifying battle for the WBO and IBF light-heavyweight titles between Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Russian fighter Artur Beterbiev took place in the USA, on October 18.
Beterbiev knocked down Gvozdyk three times in the 10th, as the referee Gary Rosato immediately stopped the fight following the third knockdown.
Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KOs) was behind on two of the three judges’ scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
