Oleksandr Usyk, the mandatory challenger for WBO world heavyweight title, expects to face Anthony Joshua before Tyson Fury does so, Sky Sports reports.

It has been recently announced that IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Joshua and WBC titleholder Fury twice have agreed to meet each other next year in mega-fights that would have all the titles on the line.

The Ukrainian boxer is not happy with a potential year or two of waiting.

"Usyk's WBO mandatory had to happen before AJ vs Pulev. But we were flexible and did not put much pressure on, allowing AJ to complete his IBF mandatory while Usyk fights Chisora," the boxer's promoter Oleksandr Krassyuk stated.

According to him, Usyk intends to take advantage of his mandated opportunity "within the shortest period of time".

"It means that either Joshua fights Usyk first or fights Fury without the WBO belt," Krassyuk added.

As we reported earlier, Usyk's bout against Dereck Chisora was scheduled to take place at the O2 arena in London on May 23. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic pushed it back to July.
