Ukrainian boxer Viktor Postol (28-0, 12 KOs) won the title of world champion under WBC version in light welterweight knocking out Argentinian Lucas Martin Matthysse (37-4, 34 KOs) in the tenth round, Champion reports.
The fight took place in Carson, California. First six rounds were held in equal fight, but starting from the seventh round Postol fully seized the initiative, increasingly getting Matthysse’s head by his punches and combinations.
The fight ended in the tenth round when Postol caught Matthysse by the right countercheck knocking out Argentinean, BoxingNews.
After the battle Postol commented on his victory as follows: "I want to give credit for Matthysse - he is a serious opponent. Of course, I was thinking about knockout but did not focus on it. I realized that I could knock him out and the punch came itself. I missed few strong punches from Matthysse, but it’s not for nothing that I am called the Iceman - I hold punches."
Reportedly, it is for the first time that Lucas Matthysse lost ahead of time while Victor Postol won his 28 fight and remains undefeated.
