The World Cup Biathlon women's relay was held today in Ostersund, Sweden.
Anastasia Merkushyna, Vita Semerenko, Yuliya Dzhyma and Valentyna Semerenko competed for the Ukrainian team. Merkushyna went the whole distance without a single miss. Vita Semerenko made one mistake and came third. Jyma missed twice, but kept the third position. Valentyna Semerenko also made two misses and in the end arranged a race with Laura Dahlmeier from Germany, and managed to be ahead of her by 0.5 seconds. The Norwegian team won the relay; the Swedes were second.

"I am glad that we are the third. I lost time, yes, but I kept the position. I expected to work on the frontiers much better. Therefore, I lost more time. But the position remained, it makes me very happy," Yuliya Dzhyma commented on the victory.
"I tried to concentrate on my work, not to look at the result, I was a little worried about shooting and, as a result, I received one additional cartridge. I was somehow not sure of myself. I came to the stand more confident and shot perfect," Valentyna Semerenko shared her opinion about the race.
We add that the Ukrainian team showed the best results in accuracy and speed of shooting in the relay of the World Cup.
Earlier, Ukrainian Dmytro Pidruchny became the world biathlon champion. He won the gold medal at the Biathlon World Championships in Ostersund, Sweden. This is evidenced by the data on the official website of the International Biathlon Union.
Ukrainian athlete was 8.3 seconds ahead of the Norwegian Johannes Bø - the owner of "silver," and 17.7 seconds ahead of the Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maya, who got the "bronze."
