Head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko commented on the victory, which his team was able to achieve in a friendly match against the national team of Estonia, press service of Ukrainian football association reports.
"First I want to thank the fans. There was a full stadium, despite the cold weather. I did not even expect the stands to be filled in five minutes, as it had happened just before the game started. The Estonians were charged. It was important for us to score the first goal, we created enough moments, controlled the ball, but we were not able to do that for a long time.
It is important to give the opportunity to those who have played less in previous matches. I am very pleased with our actions in the first half of the match, the structure of the game was maintained. Due to ball possession, its transfer from the flank to the flank we created moments but lacked implementation. In the second half, there were turnovers, the players began to hurry, nervousness was present. We had to act differently in the end. However, we managed to score. We deserved that victory.
As we reported earlier, Ukraine's national football team has played its first game in Zaporizhya ever; the city hosted the friendly match between the Yellow-Blues and the national team of Estonia.
Given the fact that Ukraine completed the task to get to Euro 2020, manager Andriy Shevchenko now has a good chance to evaluate the reserve players and give them an opportunity to play against Estonia and Serbia (the latter is yet to come, it is slated for November 17). This is why Ukraine's line-up was an experimental one.
