Ukrainian fencer Ihor Reizlin became the bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympics in individual epee. This is stated by the Olympic Games official website.

In the semifinals, Reizlin lost to the Frenchman. On the way to bronze, Reislin defeated Swiss Benjamin Steffen (15:11) and Max Heinzer (15:12). And in the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian was stronger than the Egyptian Mohamed Elsayed – 15:13.

The Ukrainians Bogdan Nikishin and Roman Svichkar also competed in this discipline, but lost in their 1/16 finals.

The 37-year-old Rezlin is the 2019 world runner-up in team competitions and the 2019 World Cup bronze medalist in individual competitions.

For Reizlin, it was his debut Olympics. This is the second medal for Ukraine in Tokyo and bronze again. Yesterday Ukraine won the first medal at the Tokyo Olympics: judoka Daria Bilodid brought our team bronze.

The 2020 Olympics are being held despite the global coronavirus pandemic. So, this morning, the organizers reported 10 new cases of infection recorded in the Olympic village. Already 132 people there are in isolation with positive tests, including several athletes.
