Ukrainian athlete Daria Bilodid has been recognized by the International Judo Federation (IJF) as the best female judoka in the world. This was reported on the website of the federation.
"At the end of an amazing day of judo and discussion about our sport, the IJF revealed the winners of the IJF Judo Awards 2019-2020. Female Judoka of the year 2019-2020 - Daria Bilodid from Ukraine," the statement said.
In 2019, Bilodid won the gold medal at the World Championships in Tokyo (48 kg).
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs) has once claimed his readiness to fight the best boxers in his new weight class - and one of them is ex-WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs).
"There are a lot of guys who I would like to fight and would be happy to fight, like Deontay Wilder," he noted.
In his last bout, Usyk defeated Dereck Chisora via unanimous decision.
The judges saw the fight 117-112, 115-113, and 115-113, awarding Usyk the victory and keeping him in his spot as a mandatory challenger to Anthony Joshua's WBO heavyweight championship.
