Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khyzhniak won a silver medal in boxing in the weight category up to 75 kg at the Tokyo Olympics.
His opponent was Hebert Sousa from Brazil. According to the notes of the judges, Khyzhniak was in the lead in two rounds, but in the last one, he was knocked out. The judge was forced to stop the fight ahead of schedule although the boxer was ready to continue the fight.
In the 1/8 final match, Khyzhnyak defeated 24-year-old Japanese Yuito Morivaki (5-0) by points. In the quarter-finals of the 2020 Olympics, Khyzhnyak defeated 21-year-old Dominican boxer Euri Cedeño Martinez (4-1).
Khyzhnyak's rival in the semifinals was Eumir Martial from the Philippines. The fight ended with a score of 3:2.
As reported earlier, Ukrainian athletes Lyudmyla Luzan and Anastasia Chetverikova won silver medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in two-piece canoe rowing at a distance of 500 meters.
