21 Ukrainian sportsmen were licensed to participate Winter Olympic Games in Korea's Pyeongchang three weeks before the start of the competitions. This was reported by Interfax agency.
As of January 17, 11 licenses for athletes in biathlon, 5 - in luge sport, 4 - in figure skating and one in skeleton have been officially confirmed, according to Ukraine’s Sports Minister Ihor.
He noted that it is the representatives of the biathlon team that are entrusted with the main hopes for medals in Pyeongchang. The national team will be seen off for the Olympics on January 23.
Zhdanov also reminded that the winners of the Olympics will receive 125 thousand dollars for the first place, 80 thousand dollars - for second, and 55 thousand dollars for the third place.
As it was reported earlier, the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang will be held on February 9 - 25.
