Ukrainian athletes allowed to train in solitude during lockdown

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers allowed Ukrainian athletes of national teams to conduct individual training sessions during lockdown. The corresponding decision was made at the government’s meeting, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"The proposed changes will allow the athletes of the national teams of Olympic, non-Olympic, national sports and sports of persons with disabilities to train during the lockdown ... It is suggested to allow athletes to conduct solely individual training," Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Gutzeit stated.

As we reported earlier, the World Athletics Championship, which was scheduled to be held in Eugene, Oregon (USA) from August 6 to August 15, 2021, is now postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Everyone needs to be flexible and compromise and to that end, we are now working with the organizers of the World Athletics Championships in Oregon on new dates in 2022 for our World Athletics Championships,” the message reads.

The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo were also delayed: the competition will be pushed back for a year.
