"According to the results of the performance of the National Team of Ukraine at the XVI Summer Paralympic Games 2020, which took place from August 25 to September 5, 2021, in Tokyo (Japan), the winners and prize-winners were awarded cash prizes of $9,3 million," the message reads.
It is noted that the amounts of accrued awards are transferred to the personal accounts of champion athletes/winners in full.
The Ukrainian national team earned 98 medals: 24 gold, 47 silver, 27 bronze at the Games in the capital of Japan. Ukraine took sixth place in the overall standings. This is the second result in the number of medals in the history of our team's performances at the Paralympics. A bigger number of awards in Ukraine were only in the 2016 Rio Olympics - 117 medals.
Maksym Kripak was the most titled Paralympian this year was a Ukrainian - swimmer, who won seven awards in Japan. He won five gold (200m complex, 100m, and 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly, and backstroke), one silver (50m freestyle), and one bronze (relay) medals.
As it was reported earlier, Ukrainian athletes - winners and prizewinners of the Olympics in Tokyo - were awarded cash prizes in the amount of $1,9 million by the Cabinet of Ministers. Athletes who took fourth, fifth, and sixth places at the Olympic Games in Tokyo received cash prizes in the amount of $134,000.
