Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska qualified for the WTA tournament's final. The event is taking place in Adelaide, Australia.
In the semifinal, the Ukrainian defeated Belarusian athlete Arina Sobolenko (6:4, 7:6). It was their third meeting on the court; in all of them, Yastremska celebrated victory.
The Ukrainian will now face the winner of the fixture between Ashleigh Barty vs Danielle Collins. Earlier, in November 2019, Barty defeated Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, as their paths crossed in WTA Shenzen event (6:4, 6:3).
This is definitely a triumph for Yastremska now, as she will surely take the highest place in the WTA ranking in her career so far. The points that she scored by making it to the finals are enough to be ranked 21st. If she wins, she'll climb to rank 18.
In August 2019, the Ukrainian won the WTA competition in Strasbourg. In September, Ukrainian derby took place, as Svitolina and Yastremska came toe-to-toe. The fifth racket of the world, Svitolina did not give her young opponent a slightest chance. If in the first set, Yastremska managed to win at least two games, then in the second set, Svitolina did not give her a single game.
