Ukrainian swimmer Denys Ostapchenko became the champion of Paralympic Games in Tokyo

A 200 m backstroke race took place in the Japanese capital. Ostapchenko triumphed in it, winning his third medal during these Games. Thus, he gained the full set of awards - gold, silver and bronze (which he claimed in the 50 m backstroke and 50 m freestyle events).

Ukraine has won 93 medals in these Games - 22 gold, 44 silver and 26 bronze awards. The country's national Paralympic team comes fifth in the overall standings.

The 2020 Paralympic Games have started in Tokyo on August 24. The games will last from August 24 until September 5, 2021. About 4,400 athletes from 160 countries participate in the Paralympic Games.

About a hundred athletes come to Tokyo Paralympics from Ukraine. They participate in different competitions, particularly, archery, paracanoe, shooting, table tennis, and others. The biggest team in the Ukrainian Paralympic team is swimmers – 40 athletes.
