The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina lost in the 1/16 finals of the Australian Open.

The rival of Elina was the Spanish athlete Garbiñe Muguruza. Svitolina was able to win only one serve in the first set and was ultimately defeated. In the second sey, Ukrainian tried to correct the situation, but nothing came of it - Muguruza easily won a victory.

Earlier, Dayana Yastremska, Ukraine's prominent tennis player had a fixture with Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark. The opponents came toe-to-toe in Round 2 of the Australian Open.

But she lost six games in a row, and Wozniacki's comeback followed in the second set - after Yastremska's initial advantage of 3:0. Previously, the Ukrainian defeated Slovenian athlete Kaja Juvan. It was a dominant victory for Yastremska, which resulted in a 6:1, 6:1 score, according to the tournament’s website. This let her make it to Round 2. In general, Dayana has confidently started the first Grand Slam tournament this year, beating her opponent by every measure. This is evidenced by the duration of the match, which made 56 minutes.
