Last week, Ukrainians finished second in the European qualification for the World Cup in Portugal. It became one of the four teams from Europe that enjoyed the right to play in that competition.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was not ashamed of the defeat of the Ukrainian national football team in the match with England in the quarter finals of the European Championship 2020. Zelensky posted his comment on the outcome of the match between the teams on his Facebook page.
"Not a single defeat will break Ukraine! The pain will pass, the wounds will heal, we will be strong enough to get up and move on! We are sorry, it hurts, but not ashamed! Ukraine ends this tournament in the top 8 strongest teams in Europe. We got a better result than France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and many others," the head of state emphasized.
He expressed hope that the Ukrainian national football team, having gained the most important experience in this championship, will definitely make their way to the 2022 World Cup.
