WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo and two-time world title contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko are in negotiations for an autumn boxing showdown, The Atlantic reports.
If parties agree on all the terms, it will be Charlo's third title defense of his world title. He has not been in a boxing ring since December 2019.
Derevyanchenko, in his turn, will get another shot at the world title: he competed for the IBF title twice, losing to Danny Jacobs and Gennadiy Golovkin.
It is worth noting that Derevyanchenko was considered as a potential opponent for Saul Alvarez. That fight, however, would take place at the 168-pound weight category.
As we reported earlier, representatives for Ghana's Emmanuel Tagoe and Ukraine's Denys Berinchyk have started negotiations over the WBO title elimination bout.
“We have signed a promotional agreement with Denys Berinchyk in 2015 with the provision that the London Silver Olympic medalist will get his chance to challenge the world title. Being the part of the 2012 Dream Team together with Loma, Usyk and Gvozdyk Berinchyk has been working hard to get his title shot," Berinchyk's promoter stated.
